FROM SUNDAY 6 APRIL TO SUNDAY 1 JUNE 2025
Gallery Kempro has always positioned itself as a place where hidden talents can shine. It is a space that allows carefully selected artists to share their work with a wider audience. This spring, we enthusiastically present the exhibition ‘Modified Spaces’ by Karin Thijs from Leende. In recent years, Karin has found her own unique voice in the art world. Her works are a wonderful balance between sophistication and playfulness, exploring the boundary between abstraction and figuration. It is a world of paint that slowly unfolds, layer by layer.
In her paintings, Karin combines classical and more experimental techniques. By not starting with a well-defined plan, she creates space for spontaneity. With a palette of vibrant colours and firm brushstrokes, she creates spaces that invite the viewer to explore. Photographs from interior and fashion magazines stimulate her to reinterpret the beauty of everyday objects and spaces. Besides her paintings, Karin creates sculptures and collages, which explore the theme of portraiture in a different way. By breathing new life into residual materials, she creates another dimension in her work. The sculptures created from these leftover materials show a wonderful combination of unintended forms and fragile beauty. Her paintings and sculptures make the viewer look not only at the forms, but also at what happens between the lines. The transparent layers Karin uses form a fabric of forms, which can be experienced as both abstract and figurative.
‘My art is an invitation to explore the connection between space, interiors and the human experience. I hope my work evokes a sense of wonder and inspiration, and encourages the viewer to discover the beauty in the everyday.’
We cordially invite you on Sunday 6 April at 15.00 for the official kick-off of the exhibition ‘Modified Spaces’. An eight-week exhibition worth seeing for anyone who wants to be drawn into a world of paint, transparency and unexpected beauty. As an art lover, or just someone curious about new perspectives, you will certainly be inspired by Karin Thijs' work.
Galerie Kempro is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm and Sundays from 1pm to 5pm and is free to enter. For more information about Atelier Galerie Kempro, please visit www.kempro.nl.
