During the war, the local leader of the N.S.B. lived here. Even in the present municipality of Heeze-Leende, people were members or sympathisers of the N.S.B. At that time, real members had taken the oath of allegiance. Sympathisers paid less contribution and were often so for various reasons. Sometimes they had to become sympathisers to avoid losing their jobs. Others chose it because it meant they did not have to go to German labour camps. Still others married, borrowed money from people who were members of the N.S.B. and were thus forced to become sympathisers. Even when you had paid off your debt, you could no longer leave the party.
