In the years after the war, municipalities began to pay attention to war memorials. However, these monuments required approval from the ministry. Plans for a large monument in Heeze were rejected. Eventually, a monument in the form of a plaque with names against the facade of the new town hall built in 1954 was erected at the front of the building. A very simple monument where people held the annual commemoration of the dead.
As a result of the extension of the town hall after the redivision, the monument needed a different location. A site in the garden of the town hall was chosen. The old plaque was later replaced by a new one.
Old town hall
Until Sept 1943, the Jan Dekkerstraat 6 building was Heeze's town hall.
