Cosy breakfast for the whole family with explanations about birds and the National Bird Count, concluding with a creative activity. Everyone is welcome!
We start with a short presentation, provided by the bird working group of IVN Heeze - Leende. This will include the following.
- Birds in the garden in January
- Scientific usefulness of counts
- Counting results of the past year
- How to count birds and enter the results.
After the short presentation, we will have breakfast which will be provided by Village Hall Valentine. And we will finish with a craft activity, which will benefit birds.
After this morning, you go home:
With a counting plate to count birds and a bag of seeds for growing plants in your garden that attract many birds. And, of course, your homemade craft.
The National Garden Bird Count provides a snapshot of the numbers and species of birds present in Dutch gardens. Combined with the results of other years and with other counts, this provides a picture of developments in the importance of gardens for birds. Every year, tens of thousands of Dutch people participate by spending half an hour counting the birds in their gardens.
This activity is organised by Dommeldal Library - IVN Heeze - Leende, Stichting Vrienden van de Bieb and the Sterksel Seed Library.
Participation is free but registration is highly desirable, no later than 24 January 2025!
