Film: "The Pain in the Countryside" Farmers, Vulnerable and Strong
Documentary filmmaker Margo de Haas (Arcas Films) follows four female farmers from Brabant and Zeeland in their daily lives on the farm.
Leonie, Madeleine, Berdien, and Marije; each passionate about life and work in the countryside. Each of them strong, yet at the same time, vulnerable. Vulnerable due to everything that has come their way in recent years: nitrogen, energy crisis, water scarcity, and the hardening of public opinion. Powerful in finding a balance to survive and make the best of it each time. How does this sum of societal challenges affect their lives? What is it like to be a farmer in 2023? What contributes to the emergence of parallel worlds?
After the movie, farmer Marije will engage in a conversation with you. She is willing to answer your questions related to the film.
