Photography enthusiasts and curious minds, take note! From January 5th to 23rd, 2025, Galerie Ekelhof in Sterksel will host a unique exhibition featuring the microphotographs of Jelte Prins, a passionate photographer and retired company doctor from Someren. For over ten years, he has been capturing stunning images of crystallized chemical substances, thinly sliced wood, and gemstones using his 60-year-old LEITZ Orthoplan microscope. What remains hidden to the naked eye is brought to light in these microphotos, each one a work of art of unparalleled beauty.
The microscope allows Jelte to reveal the hidden worlds of nature, exposing structures and forms that are typically unseen. Through the rotation of polarizing filters and advanced techniques like differential interference contrast, he creates a magical color palette that highlights the exquisite beauty of the micro-universe.
The exhibition can be viewed at Galerie Ekelhof, every Sunday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Don’t miss the chance to discover this remarkable technique and explore the hidden wonders of the microscopic world!
