Barefoot pad

Who doesn't know it? The feeling of sand or grass between your toes. How good is it to feel moss, forest floor, mud, pebbles, wood chips and shells between them too? Discover the barefoot paths of the Dutch Forestry Commission.

Barefoot

Walking barefoot teaches you to experience nature differently and is great fun! The forest rangers have therefore devised special barefoot paths where you can treat your feet to lots of stimuli. The trails are great fun for kids, but of course you'll want to experience this when you're no longer little.... So shoes off and go!

Barefoot path Heeze

In the Huttenbouwbos is the barefoot path. This circular walk of about 800 meters is a true sensation for your feet. This way you experience the forest in a very special way! On bare feet you walk over different surfaces of gravel, pebbles, forest floor, plank paths and with wet weather enjoy the mud. During the walk you will pass the insect garden, heather garden and the vegetable garden. Fun for everyone!

Achelse Kluis

The Trappist monastery De Achelse Kluis is definitely worth a visit during a hiking or biking trip. Located on the border of the Netherlands and Belgium, it is a popular place to take a break and enjoy a home-brewed beer in the cozy restaurant or on the terrace.

The Achelse Kluis is located on the border between the Belgian town of Hamont-Achel and the Dutch town of Leende in a spacious nature reserve of fields, woods and heathland. The area is bisected by the Warmbeek, as they say in Belgium or the Tongelreep, which is the Dutch name for this river.

Feasting and silence

In the abbey, even today, there is still room for rest and contemplation. But you can also enjoy a home-brewed Trappist beer on the terrace or a tasty regional dish in the restaurant. And no matter which way you walk or cycle afterwards, you can always enjoy beautiful views, the varied landscape and silence.
